At Colégio Casa Mãe, ranked as the best school in the country by various media outlets in 2024, I have the opportunity to put all my expertise into practice. Working alongside a team of highly qualified educators, we strive for excellence by blending pedagogical innovation with a strong commitment to success. This environment allows me to continuously refine my teaching methods while contributing to a culture of high achievement, where the focus is on delivering exceptional education and fostering the growth of every student.
During my internship at CIP - Centro de Inovação Pedagógica do Politécnico do Porto, as a research and teaching assistant, I gained a deep understanding of pedagogical innovation. Working alongside some of the best educators in my field, I had the privilege of helping organize and participate in an international conference (P.PIC 24) and presenting a paper on the use of AI in classrooms. This experience at one of Portugal's most prominent educational HUBs allowed me to develop comprehensive knowledge about innovative teaching practices. The result of my work was invaluable—building strong professional networks and earning a solid "20", the highest grade an intern can achieve.
In the course of my work as a translator and interpreter at TESE - Associação Para o Desenvolvimento, I gained a deep understanding of the demanding nature of interpreting, where quick thinking and precision are key. At the same time, being a translator taught me the importance of autonomy and self-management. This dual experience provided invaluable lessons, with the most significant being how to adapt to working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. It sharpened my communication skills and flexibility, helping me thrive in high-pressure environments and ensuring that I deliver quality work, no matter the challenge.
While pursuing my degree in Languages and Foreign Cultures at the Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico do Porto, I took on several part-time jobs to support myself. Working as a cook in a Vietnamese restaurant taught me how to manage stress in a high-pressure environment. My experience in construction helped me build resilience and endure physically demanding work. As a robot maintenance technician in a factory, I honed my problem-solving skills, often having to improvise solutions when faced with unexpected issues and limited resources. Each of these roles enriched my ability to adapt, think on my feet, and persevere.
As a teaching assistant at "Ensina Mais", I took my first steps towards a career in education. This role allowed me to engage directly with young learners, helping them to overcome academic challenges while developing my own understanding of effective teaching methods. I gained valuable experience in lesson planning, tailoring educational activities to meet individual student needs, and managing the classroom environment. It was during this time that I truly realized my passion for teaching, as I navigated the complexities of working with children and found creative ways to inspire and motivate them in their learning journeys.
At Nespresso, I had my first professional experience, where I gained a solid foundation in teamwork, customer service, and worksite responsibility. This role taught me how to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that customer needs were met with a high level of care and attention. I developed strong interpersonal skills by interacting with clients, while also learning to manage various tasks and responsibilities on-site. This experience instilled in me a strong sense of accountability and the importance of delivering exceptional service in every aspect of my work.
